Nintendo Wii

The most appropriate console to begin with is the Nintendo Wii. The Nintendo name alone is legendary in the gaming community. It outsold the Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 despite its limited hardware capability and lack of DVD player support. One of the reasons behind this was the new controller design labeled the Wii Remote, which is used as a handheld pointing device. It was also the first successful console that utilized motion detection technology in its primary control method.

Nintendo Wii U gaming

The Nintendo Wii is vastly different from the Xbox 360 and Sony Playstation 3 in terms of hardware, so much so that most games on the Wii are exclusive titles to the console. Franchises like Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Kirby have multiple titles and iterations on the Wii. Online interaction is also different in that there is no online voice chat feature. Ensuring that children will not be exposed to the uncensored chat of older players.

The target demographic for Nintendo has remained unchanged for the most part comprised of younger children or casual gamers. If you are looking for a competitive online experience, this console may not be for you due to the fact that a “friend code” must be entered if you want to play with people you know. If you are looking for a family oriented, lighthearted gaming experience, you won’t go wrong with the Nintendo Wii. The Wii has a retail price usually falling between $200 and $250.
